Reading A Bible Story together
We use the Jesus Storybook Bible that is given at Child Dedication. Every night, we read a Disney princess story and a Bible story. This Storybook Bible has great illustrations and links every story to the Gospel. Another great resource is the monthly Bible Reading Plan found on the CF Kids Bookmark. You can start by reading one story about Jesus every day from the Gospel of John. As parents, we want to set the tone for the role of the Bible in their lives. They can reflect on the faithfulness of God throughout time, and remember this as evidence to how God will work in their lives into the future

SINFUL NATURE:
PUNISHMENT FOR SIN
Sin is anything we say, think, or do that does not please God. Sin is breaking God’s rules.
Some things that God calls sin are stealing, lying, and cheating. There are many others. Can you think of some?
The Bible tells us in Romans 3:23 that everyone has sinned. (Show verse) That does not just mean bad people like robbers and murderers.
That includes you and me. Even good people sin.
No one had to teach you how to do wrong things. Each one of us was born with a nature that wants to sin.
When you do something that is against the rules, or against the law, you deserve to be punished, don’t you? God tells us in His Word that sin has to be punished. God’s punishment for sin is to be separated from Him forever and ever. That is a terrible punishment, but a fair one.

The Invitation Prayer
PRAYER EXAMPLE #1:
Dear God,
I know I am a sinner. I made wrong choices and did bad things. I am sorry. Please forgive me. I know Your son, Jesus, died for my sins and I believe You raised him from the dead. I want Jesus to be my Lord. Thank You for loving me and making me Your child. Now, please fill me with Your Holy Spirit, so I will have all the strength I need to obey You. Amen.
PRAYER EXAMPLE #2:
Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank You for loving me. I believe You died for me on the cross. I am sorry for my sins. I ask You to give me a new life and make me a part of God’s family. Please help me to love and obey You.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Important:
Ask the question to the children, “Who has already given their life to the Lord?” Then have them raise their hands to show who has. Then say, “I am not talking to you right now, so go ahead and put your hands down.” This will help in knowing those who are making a first time commitment to the lord.
